Automatic Cut List Creation

Automatically_Fill Your Cut List With Weldment Profile Property Data- Profiles Without Configurations

Welcome!  This workflow describes the steps we must follow to have identifying information from a weldment profile automatically appear on our drawing weldment cut list.
  1. The first step is to verify the following document property is set:
    1. System Options> Document Properties> Weldments> Cutlist Options> Rename Cut List Folders with Description Property Value
    2. This setting can be found at the location shown below and should be on for all files.

  2. Next, we want to review the structure of the weldment profile folders that must be in place for our profiles to appear in the Structural Member menu

    1. For comparison, the structure for profiles with configurations is slightly different:

  3. Once we've verified the folder structure, we'll open our existing weldment profile library file.
  4. Go to File Properties > Custom and create the "Description" property as well as the desired value.

  5. After that, we'll create our structural members in our example part file.
    1. You can see how the “Description” property appears with our File-based profile template and the differences between the default configuration-based template.
    2. We should see the:
      1. File Name
      2. The name of the folder where the profile lives
      3. The Description Property Value
        1. Note: This output is specific to weldment profiles without configurations.

  6. Lastly, we'll make our drawing and observe the result in the cut list table:

  7. One critical detail: After altering your weldment profile, existing Structural Members will not be affected. If you’d like them to be renamed automatically with the new information you must recreate them.
    1. For existing members, the best strategy is to edit the cut list properties of those existing members and assign the “Description” to the “Cut List Item Name."

That's everything!  You've now created a Weldment Structural Member and automatically populated the cut list.
